Four Yuma Catholic Shamrocks sign to play Division I football

Four Shamrock teammates make history and sign their letters of intent to play football at Division I programs.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Four Yuma Catholic Shamrocks signed to play Division I football on Tuesday. Rocky Stallworth, Sir Stokes, Jeremiah Polk and Darryl Coleman each signed their letters of intent in Carol McEhleny Oden Gym.

This marks a huge milestone for both these athletes and the program, as it is the time in school history that four teammates from the same graduating class will compete at the Division I level. Also, according to KYMA records, it is the first time for any Yuma county school.

Rocky Stallworth, this years Arizona Defensive Player of the Year, signed with New Mexico State. Stallworth expects to play primarily as a long snapper for the Aggies, while filling in at linebacker while needed. Stallworth led the entire state with 201 total tackles in 2024, while also serving as the longsnapper on special teams.

"I had a lot of division 2 offers and I knew I could play at the Division One level," Stallworth said. "It just took time and God answer my prayers. It turns out New Mexico State has the perfect degree for me, which is agriculture, and I'll get to play at the Division I level."

Sir Stokes established himself as one of the states most dynamic wide receivers over the past couple of seasons and he has signed with Northern Arizona. Stokes racked up over 1200 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in 2024. The play maker believes he has landed in the perfect spot with the Lumberjacks.

"When [NAU] sees a mismatch, they're definitely gonna throw it in and I won't get a double team or triple team like over here," Stokes said. "[NAU] is closer to home and there's a linebacker coach up there that used to be a head coach over here when my brother was at YC. So, we just had like connection the whole entire time."

Hard hitting defensive back Jeremiah Polk is ranked by 247Sports as the number 47 recruit in Arizona for the Class of 2025. He was originally committed to play at Brown, but flipped and has now signed for Eastern Washington. The senior says this decision was rooted in family.

"I felt like I was part of the family," Polk said. "When I left the head coach's office, he told me that he loved me and that he was gonna be there for me for whatever I need in life."

Darryl Coleman was a big time playmaker on both sides of the ball for the Shamrock and he has signed to play safety for Utah Tech.

"Growing up, this is what I've always dreamed of," Coleman said. "Dreams are big. So, this is a blessing for me."

Unfortunately, Coleman’s senior campaign was cut short due to injury. However, he is looking forward to being ready to go for the Trailblazers when he arrives on campus.

"I've been attacking rehab now ever since surgery," Coleman said. "I expect to be running and on the field in about 3, 4 months. [Then] getting into play again, so that should be great."

Five other Shamrock athletes signed on Tuesday. For more on those athletes, be sure to follow along with our sports page throughout the coming days.
