‘Today’ Show host Savannah Guthrie to host Wordle game show

(CNN, KYMA) - "Today" Show host Savannah Guthrie is taking her love of Wordle from the couch to primetime television.

NBC announced Monday Guthrie will host a new game show based on the popular New York Times word puzzle.

The series will feature teams competing to solve five-letter word puzzles in what the network calls a "battle of smarts, speed and fun."

The show is being produced by "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon, who announced the project alongside Guthrie on the "Today" Show.

Casting is already underway, though the Wordle game show is not expected to premiere until 2027.

Guthrie says the show's pilot was delayed after her mother disappeared earlier this year.
