HBO Max drops trailer for upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ TV series

(CBS, KYMA) - HBO Max dropped the trailer for the highly anticipated television series based on the "Harry Potter" books by J.K. Rowling Wednesday.

The reimagined show has been described by Warner Brothers as "remaining faithful to the stories" with "never-before-seen moments from the stories will be brought to life on screen for the first time."

The main difference from the first film is that it seems the show will go into more detail about Harry's time at school in the Muggle (non-magic) world and his time spent with Dursleys, his aunt, uncle, and cousin, who tormented him relentlessly in the books.

The show will debut Christmas 2026.

Hans Zimmer is creating a new original score for the television series. John Williams, who composed the iconic scores for the first three Harry Potter films, established the franchise's musical identity with the famous "Hedwig's Theme."
