Tracking triple-digit heat for the Desert Southwest

It may not be officially summer just yet, but we are having summer-like temperatures for the rest of the week. Highs will be in the mid-100s, bringing moderate heat risks to the Desert Southwest.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- An Air Quality Alert is in effect for parts of Imperial County due to higher ozone and pollution levels. This will stay in effect until 7 p.m. TONIGHT.

Today is one of the warmest days of the week as highs are trending between 105-106 degrees. Take a look.

Warm weather will carry into the evening, as highs will be in the 90s until 9 p.m. Overnight lows will cool down into the low and mid-70s by tomorrow morning.

Tracking above-normal temperatures and dry conditions for the rest of the week. Temperatures are expected to trend almost 10 degrees above average.

This triple-digit heat will bring moderate heat risks to the Desert Southwest. So remember to practice heat safety throughout the day. You can also visit local cooling and water stations across the counties.

Temperatures will climb between 107-109 degrees on Thursday, making it the warmest day of the week. It will be a toasty rest of the week with triple-digit temperatures. Also, tracking lots of sunshine and dry conditions for the next several days.

We are in for breezier and slightly cooler temperatures by the weekend.

TRACKING THE TROPICS: Our first tropical storm of the season has developed in the Eastern Pacific just this morning. Amanda is looking to stay a tropical system and will weaken toward the west into the ocean waters.

Looking ahead at the tropics, there are a few areas off the coast of Mexico where there is a low to medium chance for tropical storms to develop. I will keep an eye on it and bring updates.
