Tracking gusty winds and cooler temperatures on the way

Gusty winds will develop in the Desert Southwest starting on Tuesday. This will also bring in blowing dust and unhealthy air quality. I am issuing a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day Tuesday evening-Wednesday night due to the gusty conditions.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- Happy Monday! Those who are getting a 3-day weekend are in for a treat with more great weather on this Memorial Day. Make sure to take a moment to remember and honor all those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

For our evening, we are in for clear skies and cooler temperatures. Yuma County is in for light winds, but those in Imperial County will be having some stronger winds this evening.

Looking at our Futuretrack hour-by-hour wind gusts, tracking strong westerly winds for Imperial County this evening that will bring in some gustier winds.

Gusts will stay light here in Yuma County, with the highest gusts up to 20 MPH. But for those in Imperial County is expected to have gusts up to 35 MPH.

Prepare for even stronger winds in the days ahead! I am tracking a round of gusty winds Tuesday-Wednesday. Make sure to secure your outdoor items, tie down bigger items, and cover your patio furniture.

A Wind Advisory is issued for parts of Imperial County 5 pm Tuesday- 3 a.m. Wednesday to west winds and gusts up to 55 MPH.

Winds are expected to pick-up especially in Imperial County starting late Tuesday afternoon and through the nighttime hours. Winds will be coming from the west and highest gusts will be between 30-45 MPH.

If you are traveling home from the holiday weekend, make sure to drive with caution.

An Air Quality Alert is issued for parts of Imperial County due to the gusty winds bringing in blowing dust. This will go into effect 3 p.m. Tuesday through 11 p.m. Wednesday.

More winds and dust will continue into Wednesday. Strongest winds will be expected in the evening. Take a look.

With these strong winds, I am issuing a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day Tuesday evening-Wednesday night due to the strong westerly winds bringing in gusty and dusty conditions into the Desert Southwest. The more severe winds will be in Imperial County, but Yuma County will be windy at times and could see some blowing dust.

With these stronger winds, it will cool down our temperatures below normal by the middle of the week. Tracking a warming trend to return late this week and going into the weekend.
