Salon employee in Texas makes smashing start to new role

KATY, Texas (CBS, KYMA) - A brand-new employee made a smashing start to her career at a Texas salon, as the glass sliding door she was closing exploded into hundreds of tiny pieces, leaving her client and other employees stunned.

The Modern Halo Head Spa & Dry Bar in Katy said the employee went to gently close a door as she was preparing to bring products to a client seated behind a glass wall.

In security video posted to social media, she can be seen slowly closing the door before it shatters spectacularly.

"What makes the video so surprising is that our employee wasn't doing anything unusual or applying excessive force," owner Christina Batson told Storyful. "She was simply going about her normal duties when the glass suddenly shattered," she added.

The salon said no one was hurt in the incident.
