Martin Short speaks out after daughter’s suicide

(CNN, KYMA) - Actor and comedian Martin Short has broken his silence on his grief surrounding the loss of his 42-year-old daughter, Katherine, in February.

The "Only Murders in the Building" star described her suicide as a "nightmare" in a new interview that aired Sunday on CBS.

It came 16 years after short lost his wife to ovarian cancer, and before the world met Short on "Saturday Night Live," he had lost both parents and his older brother.

Katherine was one of three children Short and his wife adopted.

Short, 76, is now involved in nonprofit work to bring awareness to mental health issues, and a documentary on his life called "Marty, Life is Short," starts streaming Tuesday on Netflix.
