Beachgoers in Alabama warned of rip currents

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (CBS, KYMA) - The City of Orange Beach, Alabama was flying single red flags at Romar Beach Tuesday to warn swimmers of dangerous rip currents.

"For your safety, we ask that you stay on the shore," the city advised.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said that the risk from rip currents would be high through late Thursday night.

Footage from the City of Orange Beach shows people wading along the shore next to the strong surf.
