Extreme-Value Grocery Retailer hosts their grand opening celebration on June 23rd.

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA,KECY) - This Grocery Outlet has been in the works for over a year for husband and wife, the store's independent operators, Marco Serrano and Jessica Martinez.

Serrano says it feels unreal.

"Is this really happening? Today there was people making a line at 5:00 am," says Serrano.

He said by 7:00 am when they opened the doors, there were 247 people in line.

The first 100 customers received a Grocery Outlet Bliss Bucks gift card in mystery amounts ranging from $5 to $250. All shoppers also received a free limited-edition reusable bag, until supplies ran out.

Grocery Outlet offers customers big savings on brand-name products.

"The savings is a big thing. You find things here that when you go to a convention store, you're going to be paying a lot," says Serrano. "Say you go to a convention store and find an item for $5.99, here you're probably going to find it for 99 cents or $1.99 and we have crazy deals that you won't believe."

Grocery Outlet offers a full range of products including fresh produce, meat, deli, along with long with a wide assortment of natural and organic choices. Grocery Outlet also carries a large selection of beer and wine, health and beauty care, as well as seasonal items.

Serrano and Martinez presented a $1,000 donation to Brawley Feed the Need, which serves the homeless, low income, and no income people of the north end of Imperial County.

The opening of the store also created 36 new jobs in the community. Serrano said everyone hired is actually from Brawley, which makes it that much more special.
