Border patrol arrests suspect smuggling heroin aboard bus

SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - El Centro Border Patrol agents arrested a man suspected of smuggling heroin Thursday morning.

It happened at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint at 8:50 a.m. when a man aboard a commercial bus tried to cross through inspection.

Agents sent the bus to secondary inspection where they discovered a bundle of heroin. CBP says the 28-year-old man attempted to hide the narcotics under his clothing.

In total, the heroin has an estimated street value of 56,000 thousand dollars.

The man, a United states citizen, and the narcotics were turned over to the dug Enforcement Administration (DEA) .
