“Home for the Pawlidays” event to help shelter animals find forever homes

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)- Community members can provide shelter animals their forever home this holiday season.

Saturday, December 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Humane Society of Imperial County is cutting their adoption fees in half for their "Home For The Pawlidays" event at the Petsmart and Petco located in El Centro.

With the high volumes of animals at the shelter, Devon Apodaca, the Executive Director of the Humane Society of Imperial County said events like these help the animals shine for potential pet owners.

"When animals are stressed out you know, they're not selling themselves so to speak to the adopters. So it's important for us to have adoption events like this where the animals can, you know they're out of the shelter, they're in the public's eye. They're a little bit more relaxed and their personalities come out a lot more."

The humane society's goal is to have 20 animals or more, adopted at Saturday's event.
