Small plane safely lands on beach in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (NBC, KYMA) - A small plane landed safely on a San Diego beach Tuesday after experiencing engine trouble.

The Cessna touched down on Mission Beach just after 11:30 a.m. Pacific. The pilot and one passenger were on board. They weren't hurt.

According to the pilot, his plane's engine began to give out about 20 minutes after taking off from oceanside.

A witness says the beach was entirely clear, and the pilot picked the perfect spot to land.
