CDC recommends parents to talk to doctor about getting COVID vaccine for kids

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is no longer recommending COVID shots for healthy children.

Instead, the agency recommends parents consult with a doctor about whether to get their children vaccinated.

If they opt to get the shot after talking with a doctor, the CDC says health insurers must still pay for the vaccinations.

The agency says vaccination rates for COVID are already low; 13% for children and 23% of adults have received the latest COVID vaccine.
