Biden’s head to Puerto Rico, Florida in areas hit hard by Hurricanes

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - President Biden and Mrs. Biden are planning to get a first-hand view of the damage Hurricane Fiona brought to Puerto Rico, along with the damage Ian brought to Florida.

The ponce region of the U.S. territory was especially ravaged from the storm a few weeks ago, but as of Sunday evening, nearly 90% of residents have had their power restored.

The Bidens, along with FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell will also meet with residents and take part in a community project that bags essential items for those in need.

President Biden will also soon announce $60 million worth of funding which comes from the bipartisan infrastructure law. That money will be used to bolster Puerto Rico against future threats from nature.

The two will then travel to parts of Florida that were devastated by Hurricane Ian on Wednesday.
