Man charged for assaulting a Border Patrol agent

Eliazar Vazquez-Alvaro from Mexico was arrested and charged for assaulting a Border Patrol agent with a backpack

TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A 20-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a Border Patrol agent with a weapon on September 11 and was charged by criminal complaint on September 13.

According to the United States Attorney's Office District of Arizona, Eliazar Vazquez-Alvaro from Mexico was being inspected by a U.S. Border Patrol who attempted to do an immigration inspection near Naco, Arizona on September 11.

Vazquez-Alvaro was told to kneel and place his backpack in front of his torso, while the agent was reaching for their handcuffs, the 20-year-old man stood up and swung his 10-pound backpack aimed towards the agent's head.

The agent was hit on the face by the backpack that caused an injury, Vazquez-Alvaro attempted to run but was then apprehended.
