Amtrak train derails in Missouri and collides with dump truck

MENDON, Mo. (KYMA, KECY/AP) — The Amtrak train traveling from Chicago to Los Angeles derails in Missouri and some passengers aboard were injured, according to Amtrak.

The Southwest Chief carrying 243 passengers collided with a dump truck 84 miles (135 kilometers) northeast of Kansas City in Mendon at 1:42 p.m., Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods says.
