K-Pop Group BTS announces they will take a break

  (KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - After 9 years as a K-Pop group, BTS announces on their anniversary that they will be taking a break to focus on personal growth and solo projects.

On Tuesday, June 13, during the group's ninth anniversary video "BTS Festa Dinner 2022" the members officially announced their break to their fans.

The group's members are RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

"We're going into a hiatus now," Suga announces.

However a representative for the group told CNN, "To be clear, they are not on hiatus but will take time to explore some solo projects at this time and remain active in various different formats."

BTS' leader, RM, mentions in the video how as K-Pop idols it is difficult to mature and grow as people.

He includes that in the past, he could still balance the group's promotions and his own personal projects, but has realized that he needs time to grow on his own.

Another member, V, discussed this situation with J-Hope and how they should focus on their personal projects for now and then come back together as a group.

Jimin also mentions how as a group, they are trying to find their identity and how it can be a long process.

J-Hope includes that they need change and that it is important to start a new chapter in order to grow as artists and people.

The group's fanbase called "ARMY" were saddened by this news but are willing to continue to support the members and their solo projects.
