Firefighters respond to blaze near Winterhaven

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial County Fire Department and Office of Emergency Services said it is currently engaged in a second-alarm fire near Quechan Road and Picacho Road in the Quechan Tribal Reservation outside Winterhaven Monday night.

ICFD said the fire is only about two acres but it is endangering Imperial Irrigation District utility company poles along with smoke impact to the Union Pacific Railway.

Units on scene include Yuma City FD, Rural Metro FD, City of Holtville FD, Imperial County Fire Station 1 and Station 8.

Ocean to Ocean road was closed as of Monday night.
