Revisiting the Emily Heiber dissapearance

The case was labeled as a cold case back in 2015, but now, a true crime podcast host is trying to uncover what actually happened - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It’s been ten years since Emily Heiber, a teen from Yuma, disappeared.

While her disappearance was labeled a cold case in 2015, there is someone looking into the case today.

Heiber was last seen by her family on Feb 3, 2013.

Since then, she’s been linked to hundreds of locations throughout the desert southwest.

While no meaningful leads have developed, podcaster Elle Marquis is hoping to change that soon.

"To this day her family is still looking for answers,” Marquis said.

Heiber’s disappearance has still left those involved questioning what exactly happened.

Plenty of theories have been developed, but none have turned out to be true.

Marquis had actually not intended to focus on Heiber’s case for her show initially, but was drawn in after looking at the case deeper.

“So I started asking around, I started asking people about their crime stories and that’s when I stumbled upon a lead that blew my mind,” Marquis said.

Now, she's hoping to get answers, as she says people who may not have been able to give information on the case when it happened, might be able to do so now.

“There’s somebody out there that’s had ten years worth of guilt knowing something, so I’m hoping that after all of this time if we can shake up this case and we can get enough stories that match, that maybe we can find what actually happened to her and get some answers for her family,” Marquis said.
