Drug smuggler arrested at El Centro checkpoint
Heroin, meth and fentanyl were found
SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) – The owner of a black Mercedes Benz was caught trying to pass drugs through the Highway 86 checkpoint.
Friday at approximately 9:10 a.m., El Centro Sector Border Patrol referred the vehicle to secondary inspection where a K-9 detection team alerted to the vehicle.
The Border Patrol agents found a green bag in the vehicle's dashboard which had 16.9 grams of heroin, 8.9 grams of methamphetamine, and 24.99 grams of fentanyl pills.
The total street value was estimated to be $5,789.
The 41-year-old man, the vehicle and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
