Pence to CBP employees: ‘Walls work’
UPDATE
Vice President Mike Pence spoke to U.S. Customs and Border Protection employees during his visit to the El Centro Station Monday.
Pence called the El Centro Sector an “important sector” and a “vital agency” while also thanking the brave men and women who work on the frontline of border protection.
The vice president greeted the men and women on behalf of President Donald Trump who he called “a tireless champion for border security”. Pence added that the Imperial Valley region is a channel for drug trafficking that he said makes its way into the United States.
Pence also relayed his thoughts regarding our immigration laws which he stated are ineffective and allow loopholes.

This is as he announced that thousands of National Guardsmen have been deployed to our U.S./ Mexico border.
Pence mentioned the strong partnership between the El Centro and Yuma Sectors that he said: “America is more secure because of all of you”.
Pence also spoke about the migrant caravan that has made its way to the Tijuana border where he echoed Trump’s message of securing the border by building the wall.

Vice President Mike Pence will be landing at the Naval Air Facility El Centro on Monday, according to a spokesperson with the military airport.
Kristopher Haugh, the Public Affairs Officer with NAF El Centro said Pence will arrive at the airport Monday. The news was confirmed early Saturday morning and details on his arrival have yet to be determined.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Pence will travel to Calexico on Monday to tour the construction site of the border barrier in the region.
Moreover, the news source said he’s expected to address the Department of Homeland Security and Border Patrol employees.
