One way to beat the heat this summer: Scuba lessons in Yuma

Taking a look at the bright side … as summertime rolls around with temperatures already making it feel like summer, we take a look at something most people wouldn’t expect to be doing here in the desert southwest … scuba diving.

You can get scuba certified here in Yuma. A great way to beat the heat is to take a dip in the pool. Scuba lessons are offered a the Arizona Western College swimming pool. Yumans have become certified scuba divers at AWC for over 18 years. As summer vacation comes around many people enroll in classes which run all through the summer for ages 10 and up. The classes is every Saturday and Sunday and prepares for a scuba dive in San Diego. “Come on out! scuba is a great time, it’s a lot of fun. Just because it’s Yuma, Desert Southwest, we’ve been diving here for years and it’s summertime, it’s almost here, it’s a great time to get in the water,” scuba instructor, Shawn Foster said.
