BP agents rescue drowning man
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents rescued a man drowning in the All-American canal on Friday at around midnight.
A BP agent assigned to the area two miles west of downtown Calexico, heard an individual yelling for help and quickly responded. Moments later, the agent observed an individual struggling to stay above water.
Another agent also responded to the area to assist the drowning man.
One of the agents then retrieved a rescue device and threw it in the direction of the man in distress. The man was able to grab hold of the device and was consequently pulled out of the canal by both agents.
There were no injuries sustained and the individual declined medical attention.
“The U.S. Border Patrol is composed of dedicated men and women who everyday make the commitment to safeguard our nation’s borders and save the lives of those in need,” said El Centro Sector Chief Gloria I. Chavez.
The man was transported to the El Centro Station for further processing.
