Two dead, five injured following crash on Interstate 8
UPDATE (10:00 P.M.)
According to the Department of Public Safety, two people have died and five others were injured in a crash on Interstate 8 near Gila Bend Friday.
Officials said two people were confirmed dead and five others were flown to nearby hospitals for their injuries after a two-vehicle collision near milepost 98.
Westbound lanes remain closed to allow rescue helicopters to land, DPS said.

According to Arizona Department of Transportation, Interstate 8 still remains closed. All traffic is being directed to turn around at milepost 102.
Officials said it is expected to be an extended closure. Drivers can take State 85 north to Interstate 10 West towards US 95 South and re-enter Interstate in Yuma.

A crash has caused closures for the westbound lanes of Interstate 8 at milepost 96 past Gila Bend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
There is no estimated reopening time at this time. Drivers should consider delaying travel or take an alternate route.
