Kofa High School athlete signs with Chadron State College

Kofa High School’s distance runner Michael Jaso signed his letter of intent to attend Chadron State College in Nebraska on a full-tuition scholarship on Thursday afternoon.

Jaso, a senior, competes in the 3200m, 1600m, and 4x800m relay for the Kofa track team and also competed in cross country during the fall. He placed 15th in the AIA Division I State Championships in October.

He intends to do cross country in the fall, indoor track in the winter, and outdoor track in the spring at Chadron.

“It means a lot to me,” Jaso said. “Since I’ve started running, I’ve been in love with the sport and collegiate running has been my goal since my sophomore year. Even just to have the chance to go to college is amazing and I’m super excited.”

Jaso said he plans to study human biology on his way to becoming a physical therapist.
