Teachers in Yuma are taking part in a movement on Wednesday morning to demand higher wages in schools and better education funding.
The walk-ins are currently taking place before school hours so students can receive support from parents. Teachers and supporters are wearing red in support.
The Red for Ed movement follows previous protests that have been held nationwide in the past weeks.
Educators are demanding 20 percent pay raises and more resources. This peaceful protest has been dubbed the Red for Ed movement.
Walk-ins are expected to take place at Yuma area schools that include Kofa High School, Gila Ridge High School, San Luis High School, McGraw Elementary School, H. L. Suverkrup Elementary School, Gowan Science Academy and Gila Vista Jr. High School.
The walk-ins are happening all across Arizona as well.
We will have team coverage of the walk-in on all of our newscasts.
