Walk-ins expected at Yuma schools in support of Red for Ed

Teachers across the state of Arizona are taking part in a peaceful protest Wednesday morning before school.

Educators are demanding 20 percent pay raises and more resources. More than 1,000 public schools are planning to participate. This peaceful protest has been dubbed the Red for Ed movement.

We expect walk-ins to take place at Yuma area schools that include Kofa High School, Gila Ridge High School, San Luis High School, McGraw Elementary School, H. L. Suverkrup Elementary School, Gowan Science Academy and Gila Vista Jr. High School.

Teachers and supporters are expected to come together and wear red in support.

The walk-ins will be taking place before school hours so students can receive support from parents.

The Red for Ed movement follows previous protests that have been held nationwide in the past weeks.

We will have team coverage of the walk-in on all of our newscasts.
