Fundraiser for pet oxygen masks

One local veterinary clinic is hosting a fundraiser to help save our pets in the event of a fire.

This Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lutes Casino, 10 percent of all dine in and carry out proceeds will go towards buying pet oxygen masks for our local fire departments.

“So the masks goes over their nose like this and it’s connected to oxygen so they get the highest concentration of oxygen … We want to make sure we’re giving them the best chance of survival so the sooner they get oxygen the better it is for them,” Heather Curtis said from Desert Veterinary Clinic.

65 percent of homes have pets and if there is a fire there is a good chance an animal will be affected.

Firefighters will also receive training materials along along with three different size masks to use on cats or dogs.

Their goal is to raise $1,200 dollars to purchase 12 masks. All you have to do is let your server know that you are supporting this cause. Again, it’s only on Thursday at Lutes Casino.
