Vehicle rollover results in one injured

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department responded to a vehicle rollover on County 15 and Avenue G on Sunday, April 8th, 2018 at approximately 7:32 a.m.

An investigation found a Toyota Camry on its roof inside an agriculture field.

The vehicle was traveling north on Avenue G when the driver stated that she fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle which then rolled over. The vehicle consisted of three occupants who self-extricated themselves prior to SCFD’s arrival.

The only person that was injured was a 19-year-old woman that was the back seat passenger and was not wearing a seat belt. She suffered injuries to her face and was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.

The driver and front passenger also 19 years of age were wearing their seatbelts and did not suffer any injuries.

They refused treatment by paramedics on the scene.

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department would like to remind everyone the importance of wearing seatbelts while traveling.

Somerton Police Department is investigating the accident.
