YPD receives award for being top 10 Special Olympics fundraising agencies in AZ

YUMA- During Wednesday’s City Council meeting, an award was given out to Yuma Police Department for being one of the top ten fundraising agencies in the state for Special Olympics. Lisa Ball presented Officer Cory Williams with the award from Special Olympics. Deputy Mayor Knight and Chief Lekan also spoke. For two years, Officer Williams has been running the fundraising events. In 2017, YPD was also in the top 10 for Arizona fundraisers. That included three Tip-A-Cop events, the Scary and Safe Halloween Event, and Fuel of Dreams. He raised over $16,000. Officer Williams organized five large fundraisers for Special Olympics. He went on his own time to raise money and spread awareness for Special Olympics.
