Records broken!

Day 3 of excessive heat has delivered record breaking heat to most of the Desert Southwest!

Yuma reached 120 degrees on June 20th for the 1st time in recorded history, beating the record of 116 set back in 2008.

Meanwhile, El Centro also topped it’s daytime high record for this day; also reaching 120 degrees.

This record tops the previous one set more than 70 years ago, back in 1945.

Even though Blythe didn’t beat it’s record temperature of 124 degrees; today’s daytime high wasn’t far off, as it peaked at 122 degrees.

The entire Desert Southwest region remains under an Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service.

The warning is expected to remain in place through this coming Sunday night.
