Leggings have gone from being gym wear to becoming modern comfort attire to be worn anywhere and everywhere. But, the garment caused a stir over the weekend as two teenage girls were pulled out of line by an attendant at a Denver airport. Passengers were infuriated to hear the attendant tell the young girls that they were dressed inappropriate because of their leggings.
Twitter exploded with people attacking United Airlines and the company quickly responded by clearing up the misunderstanding. According to United Airlines the attendant was doing their job; the two young ladies were flying on a “Riders’ Pass” which is issued to family members of United Airline employees. And, because their using their Riders’ Pass they have to abide by the airlines dress code to which, leggings are prohibited.
The airline’s dress code calls on Riders’ Pass users to be well groomed, neat, clean and abide by the company’s dress code. As far as attire the dress code has several rules including no sandals, short shorts, mini skirts or any form fitting garments like lyrca/spandex leggings.
