Woman rolls truck into canal

Firefighters used the jaws of life to rescue a woman after she crashed the truck she was driving into a canal with water.

Somerton Cocopah Fire Department officials say the crash happened at 1:51 p.m. at the canal on County 15th and Avenue C.

Witnesses say the woman allowed the truck to rollover into the canal and into the water, according to firefighters.

Fire personnel say the woman was thrown from the driver’s seat to the back seat during the rollover. Crews had to use the jaws of life to tear off the passenger-side door, remove the driver’s-side door and center console in order to extract the woman from the truck.

The woman suffered a fractured femur, cuts and bruises to her jaw and mouth.
