Shooting suspect to be extradited from Imperial County to Yuma County

A man suspected of a shooting that sent another man to the hospital is in custody in Imperial County and is expected to be extradited to Yuma County.

Yuma Police Department officials say, Joseph Leon Laurenzana, 31, is suspected of being the trigger man who shot another man at Maverick Bar in December.

Police officers were called out to the Maverick Bar on Fourth Avenue on December 4 for a reported shooting.

When officers arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Officer say they found a trail of blood leading them to a handgun magazine, a handgun and clothing, all believed to belong to the shooter.

Laurenzana is facing second degree attempted murder. His extradition date has not been scheduled.
