Four dead in helicopter crash near Mt. Signal
Four people are dead due to a helicopter crash after completing a search for a missing hiker near Mt. Signal.
Video shows a Mexico state helicopter crashing after what it appearing to get tangled in power lines and exploding once hitting the ground.
We have video of the incident and want to warn you that the video may be disturbing to some.
The team of four was returning from the mountain after discovering the body of Karen Violeta Ruiz Sanchez who had been missing since Sunday.
She was found dead in a ravine with what appeared to be severe head trauma.
“They were two very good friends and partners who worked together for a long time and were like brothers. They were all young rescuers who were good elements who all lost their lives,” explained Gabriel Gomez Ruiz, Director of Fireman in Mexicali.
Were told that the accident may have been due to human error, the pilot may have not seen the power lines.
“In the route that he was taking which was the third time taking that route he possibly may not have seen the power lines. Maybe he didn’t see them; maybe the sun was in his eyes at the time. And that’s when the accident happened,” stated Ruiz.
The people who lost their lives were State Police or (PEP) Agents Noe Carrasco Cruz and Jorge Alberto Zavala Martinez, Roberto Carlos Munguia Medina from the group rescue bravo 10 and Roberto Caloca, a member from Group Aguiluchos.
The investigation continues as to why Sanchez was left behind as she appeared to be traveling with a fitness group, she went missing Sunday and her body was found Monday before the crash happened.
