California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta opens Friday
The doors to the California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta in El Centro open Friday but we are getting a sneak peek before gates open to the public.
This year’s theme is, The Sweet Life and you will see it represented throughout the fairgrounds.
“Our theme in here, Preble, is candy land,” said Ted Flores, Graphic Designer.
When stepping into The Preble Building this year, visitors will be stepping onto a real life board game.
“We have a lot of activities, a sand box with a lot of gummy bear balls. The high school students from imperial have a big display, it’s all science and really educational,” added Flores.
At the Grandstand Stadium, popular band Metalachi will be returning along with 1970’s band Foghat just to name a few.
And who can forget all the good tasting fair food, from corn dogs to some out of this world sweets and treats.
“Sunday is Dia De La Familia, which we’ll have different acts at the Grandstand and Monday we’ll have High School Madness, which it is, high school madness,” said Richard Acosta, Mid-Winter Fair & Fiesta Board Member.
This year High School Madness will be live streamed and the Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta app is now available for people to download.
The City of Imperial has issued a traffic advisory along SR 86 starting March 1st through 13th due to Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta activities. Drivers should expect delays and various street closures in the area.
The fair opens this Friday and will provide free admission to seniors, all military and veterans.
