Toys tied to Trump Administration’s tariffs trigger troubling totals
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - The Trump Administration's tariffs are taking a toll on toys.
Prices for many dolls, stuffed animals, blocks, and games rose 2.2% between April and May.
Analysts say it's an unprecedented increase and it's largely the result of the U.S.' new trade policies.
According to the Census Bureau, roughly 75% of the toys sold in the U.S. come from China, which is currently dealing with a 30% tariff from the Trump Administration.
Earlier this year, the fee was as high as 145%.
Economists say the tariffs on China are forcing many U.S. toy stores to raise their prices and they expect this upward trend will continue.
