Poll: Americans want more to be done from the government

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - Most Americans want the government to get more done, but fewer trust either party to do it.

58% of people surveyed said the government should do more to solve the country's problems.

That's a record high of more than 30 years in CNN polling. More than four in ten people say that neither party can get things done or a strong leadership.

When it comes to which party best reflects the views of the role of the federal government, it's an even split among all Americans.

One third of respondents said neither party does, and the poll found that about 50% of Americans now believe democracy in the U.S. is under attack.
