Musk reinstates Trump on Twitter after conducting poll
(NBC) - After taking a Twitter poll, Elon Musk announced that the company will reinstate former President Donald Trump's account.
More than 50% of Twitter users voted in favor of Trump's return.
The move comes nearly two years after the company initially suspended Trump due to fallout from the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
The former President had over 88 million Twitter followers when the company banned him.
However, it is unclear if Trump will actually use his old account as he has publicly stated his preference for his own social media app, Truth Social.
"Truth Social is through the roof. It's doing phenomenally well. Truth Social has been very, very powerful, very, very strong and I'll be staying there. But I hear we're getting a big vote to also go back on Twitter. I don't see it because I don't see any reason for it," Trump said, according to CNN.
So far, Trump remains suspended from other major online platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
