COVID-19 Booster Vaccines in Imperial County

Guidelines on the COVID-19 booster shot

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Western State Scientific Review Workgroup has new recommendations on COVID-19 booster shot.

A single Pfizer NioNTech dose should be administered to those at least 65 years of age, as well as anyone ages 50 or older if they have an underlying medical condition.

The booster isn't limited to the elderly, as those at least 18 years old may receive it if they are at risk for SARS-CoV-2 exposure.

Those that were administered the Johnson & Johnson or Moderna vaccines are not currently eligible to receive the booster shot.

The booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine is available at many healthcare sites, clinics, pharmacies and the Public Health Department in Imperial County.
