19-year-old U.S. Marine killed in crash identified

Matthew Ryan Adams identified as active duty Camp Pendleton marine killed in hit-and-run

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY, KSWT)- A 19-year-old U.S. Marine killed by a crash with a wrong-way driver in North County San Diego this week has been identified as Matthew Ryan Adams.

According to Fox 5 San Diego, Adams was hit head-on by a truck headed south on northbound Interstate 5 in Carlsbad.

Officials said the truck driver, who was also killed in the crash, had been trying to escape police after a chase through Oceanside.

He was identified as 42-year-old Christian Zurita.
