UPDATE: Man arrested on sexual assault charge makes first appearance in court

Update from Yuma Police Department: The crime was committed on West 32nd Street and 8th Avenue.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Disturbing accusations coming from a Yuma County Courtroom. A woman says a stranger broke into her home and sexually assaulted her. 

That suspect made his first appearance before a judge Friday. 

Yuma Police say the crime actually happened back in January near West 32nd Street and 8th Avenue.

But, he was just recently arrested and booked for sexual assault, burglary and trespassing.

In court, the victim requested that the maximum bail be set, and went on to say how worried she and her daughter have been since the incident.

The suspect remains in custody tonight, and a $200,000 dollar cash bail was set.

His next court appearance will be on Tuesday, March 29.
