The heat will stay through the weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Temperatures are heating up as we are expected to be warmer than yesterday. A strong ridge of high pressure is over our region and keeping the Desert Southwest hot. With the hotter temperatures, it is possible to see some record-high temperatures. The record high is 99-degrees in 1896.

Today is expected to be the hottest day of the year so far as our temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s. Our average is 83-degrees, so by the looks of our temperatures, we will be well above normal.

We will continue to see partly cloudy skies through the weekend with conditions staying warm and dry. Hopefully the extra clouds will help us stay a little cooler.

Here's a look at our temperatures tomorrow still going to be in the mid and upper 90s, so make sure to drink plenty of water and it might be a good time to take a dip in the pool. The beginning of next week we will be cooler, breezy, and could experience some light rain chances.
