Voter registration increases by 83K in just over two months

Secretary of State Michele Reagan has announced that the number of registered voters in Arizona increased by 83,824 to more than 3.7 million active voters.

Of the state’s 3,716,161 voters, 1,288,332 are Republicans, 1,151,745 are Democrats and 1,238,038 have not designated an officially recognized party preference, according to the SOS’s office.

Libertarians and members of the Green party make up approximately one percent of the state’s total registration.

“Interest in this year’s midterm elections is extremely high and that has translated into a large increase in Arizonans registering to vote,” said Secretary Reagan. “Elections have a tremendous impact on our state, our country, and our local communities and the increase in registration is an encouraging sign of participation in our democratic process. Now we will continue to encourage people to return their early ballots or locate their polling location as soon as they can.”
