Tracking a seasonable start to October with warmer days ahead

Weather Authority/ KYMA

It's October! I am tracking a nice start to the month with near-average temperatures. But temperatures will be warming back into the triple-digits and low 100s for the weekend.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy October 1st! We are starting off the month with near-average temperatures and a little warmer than yesterday, but it is a great start to the month.

Today is also National Pumpkin Spice Day! A perfect way to start the month with seasonal temperatures is to enjoy a nice cup of pumpkin spice.

Tracking a clear, calm, and dry night with cool temperatures. It will be fantastic to be outdoors or sitting on the patio and having your favorite pumpkin spice beverage.

As the lower pressure system has moved out, it is taking the wet and cooler weather with it. I am tracking a pattern change where we will have warmer and drier weather taking over in the Desert Southwest.

Winds will be picking up Friday and through the weekend for Yuma County. Tracking winds coming from the east/northeast with gusts between 20-35 MPH. The days with the strongest winds and between 30-35 MPH will be on Saturday and Sunday.

I am tracking lots of sunshine, light winds, and comfortable, dry conditions. But our temperatures are going to warm up into the triple digits by Friday and into the low 100s this weekend and next week.

It will also be breezy with warm temperatures carrying into next week.

MONSOON OUTLOOK: Monsoon season has come to an end. Here's a recap of how the season went. Monsoon season has officially come to an end, and unfortunately, it was a very dry one for us here in Yuma. We had below-average rainfall for Monsoon 2026.
