Evacuation order lifted following train derailment in Ohio

BUCYRUS, OH (NBC, KYMA) - An evacuation order has been lifted in Bucyrus, Ohio following a train derailment that happened Sunday night.

The Norfolk Southern train derailment happened just before 9 p.m. Eastern time.

Several cars derailed, including one carrying hydrochloric acid, this prompted Bucyrus Police to request people within a one-mile radius evacuate.

Once crews had determined the hydrochloric acid was contained, that evacuation radius was reduced and then finally lifted.

Officials say 19 cars total derailed and five of them overturned. No injuries were reported and the cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
