CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Aftermath of shooting near White House

WASHINGTON (NBC, KYMA) - Video captured Sunday by NBC News shows the aftermath of Saturday night's shooting near the White House.

Pedestrians and cars once again filled the intersection Sunday as Secret Service officers continue to stand guard.

Footage captured shows bullet holes and shattered windows at the White House History Shop, which sits across the street from the U.S. Secret Service checkpoint at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, where 21-year-old Nasire Best opened fire on officers.

Officers returned fire and shot Best who was taken to the hospital and later died, according to the Secret Service.

A bystander was also shot, but it was unclear who fired the round that injured the person, and their condition has not been released.

Best was known to law enforcement and has a history of mental health concerns.

The shooting remains under investigation.
