Rain and clouds loom the region for the week of Christmas

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The first day of winter is also marking the end of the above-average temperatures the Desert Southwest has been dealing with over the past couple of weeks.

On Monday, we will see similar highs, in the upper 70s, but a decline in peak temperatures should follow suit. Highs will deep into the low 70s on Tuesday in both the Imperial Valley and Yuma County.

On top of the lower temperatures, majority of the week is expected to be riddled with cloudy conditions and a good chance of precipitation on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

It's about as close as the Desert Southwest can get for a white Christmas!

Higher wind gusts will hold off on Monday, but could make an appearance heading into midweek.
