Chargers stun Broncos with last-second field goal to stay undefeated
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KYMA) - The Los Angeles Chargers pulled off a 23-20 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday and move to 3–0 on the season, their best start since 2002.
Los Angeles started strong, jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the first half behind a three-yard touchdown run from rookie Omarion Hampton and a field goal from Dicker.
But Denver stormed back, beginning with a 52-yard touchdown strike from rookie quarterback Bo Nix to Courtland Sutton just before halftime.
The Broncos continued their surge in the third quarter with a 19-yard touchdown run by J.K. Dobbins and a short field goal, giving them a 20-13 lead going into the fourth.
Despite the mid-game lapse, the Chargers refused to fold. Herbert led a fourth-quarter drive that ended in a 20-yard touchdown pass to Keenan Allen with just under three minutes remaining, tying the game at 20.
After the Chargers defense held Denver to a quick three-and-out, Herbert once again took control, moving the offense downfield to set up Cameron Dicker's 43-yard game-winning field goal.
