DUI checkpoint to be held in Brawley on June 19
BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Brawley Police Department (BDP) will be conducting a driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoint on June 19.
The checkpoint will be open from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. on Main Street near the Brawley Public Library.
"Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk," said BPD Chief Jimmy Duran.
A checkpoint's location is chosen basted on DUI-related crashes, according to BDP.
Brawley Police would like to remind the public that DUI is not just from alcohol. Some medications could also lead to impairment.
Drivers charged with DUI for the first time could face up to $13,500 in fines, and have their license suspended.
